The Miraflores residential developments are amongst the most immediately recognisable and established communities in Orihuela Costa.

The five distinct Miraflores developments have become a top choice for international homebuyers seeking high-quality properties in mature Mediterranean-style communities.

Originally constructed during the late 1990s and early 2000s, the Miraflores communities represent the era that helped shape modern Orihuela Costa into one of the Costa Blanca's most desirable Spanish residential destinations.

Today, these developments continue to attract buyers from the UK, Scandinavia, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and across Europe, thanks to their attractive communal facilities and prestigious, central locations.

Residencial Miraflores I in Los Altos

Also known locally as Urbanización Miraflores 1, or Residenciales Miraflores, the "original Miraflores" was built in Los Altos in 1996 on the municipal fringes of Orihuela Costa and the southern border of neighbouring Torrevieja.

The development set the tone for the communities that followed, with expansive lawned community gardens replete with towering Washingtonia palm trees, two swimming pools, and a decorative fish pond with an ornate footbridge.

Occupying almost 12,000 m², the secure and gated development offers low-rise, low-density Mediterranean-style apartments overlooking the gardens, and arranged in 11 small blocks across just two storeys.

Properties typically offer a compact 2-bed 1-bath layout around 55 m², with an open-plan kitchen and living room. Ground floor properties have a garden, first floor properties enjoy a private terrace, and selected streetside homes have private off-road parking.

Residential Miraflores II in Playa Flamenca

Miraflores 2 was built between 1996 and 1998 in the heart of Playa Flamenca. It is one of the most sought-after communities within the Miraflores phases, and remains highly desirable among buyers looking for traditional Mediterranean-style homes close to prominent amenities and the beach.

Like its predecessor, the 14,000 m² development follows a similar theme, with finely manicured community gardens and two swimming pools, one of which features the same low-gradient "beach style" entry pioneered by the first phase.

Construction is mostly two-storey, with some three-storey builds. Properties are a familiar mix of apartments (65 - 83 m²), duplex penthouse apartments (87 - 105 m²) with roof terraces, and townhouses of around 110 m².

Homes feature a 2-bed 2-bath layout, an open-plan American-style kitchen, and generous private outside spaces overlooking the central community gardens. The development is gated and secure, with selected homes benefitting from private off-road parking.

Urbanización Miraflores III in Orihuela Costa

Unlike previous phases, Miraflores 3 developed into a mixed residential and commercial complex close to many popular amenities. Built between 1998 and 2000, and located in Playa Flamenca, the 12,000 m² complex comprises a variety of 2, 3, and 4-storey blocks.

The complex offers a comprehensive spectrum of properties including compact 2-bed 1-bath apartments, 2-bed 2-bath penthouses, and larger 110 m² 3 bedroom townhouses with 2 bathrooms, including a master en suite. All properties benefit from gardens or private terraces.

Landscaped community areas are typically verdant, with lawned gardens, tropical palm trees and a large swimming pool. Access is secure and gated, with residents' parking provided exclusively inside the community boundary.

The central location is hard to match, with local amenities and the beach (just 1.3 km distant) within easy reach. For Spanish property buyers looking for a lively year-round environment without depending heavily on a car, Miraflores III remains an excellent choice.

The Miraflores IV development, The Oasis

The Miraflores 4 development, known locally as "The Oasis", represented a major step-up in terms of both quality and size. Built between 2003 and 2006 adjacent to the Miraflores III community in Playa Flamenca, the 24,000 m² complex dwarfs previous phases.

Located above a natural ravine that collects rainwater from inland areas and deposits the run-off into the sea at Playa Cala Mosca, the secure and gated complex offers 24 2-storey blocks of penthouses and apartments.

Homes typically offer a compact 2-bed 1-bath layout from 62 - 76 m², with an open-plan kitchen and living room. Ground floor properties have a private garden; upper floor penthouses have 2 or 3 bedrooms and a spacious roof terrace.

The community benefits from two lagoon-style swimming pools, meticulously landscaped and lawned gardens, abundant palm trees and Mediterranean flora, and secure parking within the complex. Three restaurants are located within the community, providing Asian, Indian, and Italian cuisine.

Miraflores V community in Villamartin PAU-8

Built in 2005, Residencial Miraflores 5 represents the fifth and final phase of development. Situated in the PAU-8 sector of Villamartin, the gated residential community spans 8,500 m² and comprises 8 two and three-storey blocks of apartments and duplex penthouses.

Ground-floor apartments benefit from gardens; upper-storey homes have spacious terraces. Properties typically offer 2 or 3 bedrooms, 1 or 2 bathrooms (with a master en suite), open-plan kitchens, and living areas with patio doors to the outside space.

In keeping with previous phases, the lawned community areas are a symbol of Mediterranean perfection, adorned with palm trees, and the two freeform swimming pools the Miraflores complexes are renowned for. Gated residents' parking is provided on private roads within the community.

Location is undeniably first class, with Villamartin Plaza and the 18-hole championship golf course less than 700 metres from the development. Properties within the complex are rarely offered for sale - a testament to Miraflores V's enduring popularity with both owners and buyers.
