awarded top accolade
JUST DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS Torrevieja Hospital has been officially recognised as amongst the finest hospitals nationwide by one of Spain's most renowned media publications, El Español.
Citing a lack of publicly available information provided by the government, the popular Spanish digital newspaper sought to identify the best Spanish hospitals nationwide.
Taking the results of patient surveys, aggregated clinical data provided by Spanish healthcare specialists IASIST, and the results of Merco's national Health Reputation Monitor, El Español ranked the 15 leading hospitals in Spain.
The accolade acknowledges the best-in-class Spanish medical and healthcare centres across the country, and the University Hospital of Torrevieja faced competition from some of Spain's largest centres of excellence.
With just 277 beds and a dedicated team of some 900 healthcare professionals, Torrevieja Hospital received exceptional recognition for remaining within the Top 20 Hospital's Program for five consistent years.
The distinction places Torrevieja Hospital alongside gargantuan medical establishments, such as Madrid's Gregorio Marañón general hospital: a simply huge medical centre in the nations capital comprised of 20 separate buildings, 1,671 beds, and a medical complement of around 5,300 staff.
With 312 private hospitals and 451 public Spanish National Health hospitals throughout Spain, appearing within El Español's top 15 list is a particularly special accolade that recognises first-class medical service and management.
Torrevieja Hospital has a history of excellence within the field of primary care, winning an outstanding four awards in 2011's Top 20 Hospital's Program, three awards in 2015, and no less than five distinguished awards last year.
And in July 2017 the hospital scored a prestigious gold award as a centre of excellence after achieving recognition for world-class patient care from the Joint Commission International - an independent accreditation body that measures the performance of medical centres across the world.
The public hospital is managed by Ribera Salud, a private company that operates the University Hospital of Torrevieja on behalf of the local community.
