Celebrate St Patricks Day in Cabo Roig, Costa Blanca

Cabo Roig St Patricks Day Parade, Thursday 17th March 2016

For those unfamiliar with this Irish annual tradition, St Patrick´s Day is a yearly celebration of the culture and heritage of the Emerald Isle. With its´ genesis deep-rooted in the annals of ancient religion and tradition, celebrating the life of Ireland´s foremost patron saint is something Irish people the world over take very seriously.

Celebrations usually involve public parades and festivals, and the wearing of vivid green colours or the traditional Irish shamrock. The immoveable feast marks a welcome break from the restrictions of lent, which has propagated the holiday´s tradition of alcohol consumption to some excess. Systematically occurring on the 17th March every year, St Patrick´s Day is a public holiday in Ireland.

Elsewhere around the world colourful celebrations are held and Spain is no different. On the south Costa Blanca, Cabo Roig is turning a fetching shade of green for St Patrick's Day and hosting a fabulous parade and party to celebrate Ireland´s premiere national saint. Last years´ parade was the largest of its´ kind in Spain, and this year promises to be an eventful Irish patriotic occasion.

The strip will turn into a Mediterranean sea of green for the day, with bars and restaurants offering all things Irish including food, drink, music, and traditional Irish hospitality; together with face painting, street magicians, bouncy castles and a globally unique medley of Irish & Flamenco dancers. Sure to prove a fun day out with something for all the family, including prizes, raffles, and giveaways.

The Cabo Roig St Patricks day parade will commence between Slievenamon and Bog Road at 3.30 pm, and proceed past the Trinity and Rianxeria onto Calle Cielo, passing Bar Liquid and Flanagans, and ending at Cabo Roig roundabout. The Town Hall has offered their full support for the event and has organised a spectacular fireworks display at 10.30 pm to conclude what will be a truly memorable day in Spain.
